Domestic Helper

Health and wellbeing of a domestic helper is the responsibility of the Sponsor under whom they are working.  This plan covers the life of the domestic worker against death and disability arising through illness and accident, as well as accidental medical expenses incurred in Oman.  It also covers the cost of transporting the mortal remains to the country of origin, in case of death.

For a contribution amount, Al Madina Takaful Insurance Company assures full protection for your domestic helper against unexpected and large medical expenses, which otherwise has to be borne by you.

Coverage

Risks covered are divided into four sections:

  • Coverage against death, permanent total or partial disability;
  • Medical expenses for treatment of any accidental injury;
  • Repatriation expenses in the event of death; and
  • Critical Illness cover.

However, the cover is not available if there is any pre-existing illness or infirmity.

 

FAQs

Who can be covered in this plan?

This plan is exclusively for domestic helpers aged between 18 and 50 years​.under the sponsorship of Ahli Islamic customers.

Is Domestic Help Takaful Cover compulsory for ahli islamic customers?

No, it is a voluntary plan; the choice is entirely up to customers.​​  However, Domestic Help Insurance is compulsory to obtain a new visa or visa renewal.

Is the Domestic Help Takaful cover applicable worldwide?

Yes, the coverage is worldwide for death due to any cause or accidental death, subject to exclusions mentioned in the Policy.

Are any medical tests required in order to buy the plan?

There is no need to undergo any medical tests or complete  any medical questionnaires for the plan.  However, any pre-existing medical conditions / injuries are  excluded from cover.

When does the Takaful plan begin?

The coverage begins just after the contribution is debited from the account, subject to the domestic helper’s arrival in Oman.

Is there an option to cancel the policy, if it is not required anymore?

No, Domestic Policy cannot be canceled. However, it can be transferred from one domestic helper to another, subject to a transfer fee of RO 3.

When is the policy certificate issued?

The certificate of insurance will be issued to you at the Ahli Islamic branch, after the payment is processed.

How will my dependents or I make a claim against the policy?

Visit Al Madina Takaful branches or call our Toll free number and register the claims during the working hours, from 8:00 AM to 4.30 PM (Sunday to Thursday).

What documents are required to make a claim?

In order to make a claim, the following documents are required:

(a) Death Due to any reason (other than accident):

  •  Death Certificate stating the cause of death;
  •  Post-mortem report if it is legally required;
  •  Medical/hospitalization report;
  •  Clear copy of Passport or National Identity Certificate with visa page of the deceased; and
  •  Any other document that the Takaful Company may deem necessary.

(b) Accidental Death:

  •  Death Certificate stating the cause of death;
  •  Police report;
  •  Post-mortem report if it is legally required;
  •  Medical/hospitalization report;
  •  Clear copy of Passport or National Identity Certificate with visa page of the deceased; and
  •  Any other document that the Takaful company may deem necessary.

(c) In case of Accident/Permanent Total Disability:

  •  Disability Certificate from a medical practitioner or a medical board authorized to assess disability;
  •  Police report (if disability is due to an accident);
  •  Medical report from an authorized medical practitioner with detailed diagnosis, including causes of disability and details of treatment given (if any); and
  •  Any other document that the Takaful company may deem necessary.
